Arjen Robben admits he may not play for Bayern Munich again

Netherlands winger Arjen Robben has acknowledged that he may never play for Bayern Munich again with a calf injury likely to sideline him for the rest of the season. The veteran has been with the Bavarian giants for the past decade, but it appears that he may not make a final bow before his contract expires in the summer.

Speaking to reporters, the 35-year-old said that he is unsure over a suitable return date from the latest injury and admitted that he may not get a fitting farewell with the Bundesliga holders, he told: “I have my concerns, and I am not sure if I can play for Bayern again this season. It is frustrating to not know what the problem is.”

Bayern Munich attacker Franck Ribery has hinted that he could leave the Bavarian giants when the current season comes to a close. The 35-year-old has been with the German champions for the past 11 years where he has made almost 330 appearances but he could be up for a fresh challenge at the end of the current campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Bundesliga.com, Ribery indicated that he has yet to decide whether he would be prolong his Bayern stay beyond next summer but he has plans to continue playing for the next three years at the least, he said: “I’d be up for another season, but let’s wait and see how this season shapes up. I am relaxed and don’t put myself under pressure. You must assess your performances correctly. It’s too early to say now. At my age, you never know what’s next, but I would like to play until I am 38.”

Bayern Munich play maker Arjen Robben is set to fight for a starting place in the Bayern team this coming season as Carlo Ancelotti takes over.


The player says he is focused on returning to full fitness firstly before discussing anything regarding his contract extension with the club.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid player enters the final year of his deal at the club but refuses to make any comments regarding his future at the club. Robben hasn’t played for the club since his suffering anadductor injury in early March.
