Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has said that his team completed deserved the 2-0 victory over Juventus in the Champions League quarter-finals. As a result of this victory, the team has managed to enter into the semi-final draw where they could be facing the likes of Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, or Barcelona.

Bayern Munich have been installed as one of the favourites to win the competition this season by several bookmakers. They have been excellent in the league campaign this season, as they have managed to win it in record time.

They have a 20 point advantage over second placed Borussia Dortmund. Juventus dominated the opening exchanges being the home team, but they could not make their advantage count in the match. Bayern then scored the vital goal in the 64th minute through striker Mandžukić. This away goal meant that Juventus had to score four goals in the remaining 30 min of the match. The injury time goal from striker Claudio Pizarro completed the rout for German team. After the match, Heynckes paid tribute to the Italian team by saying that they played well.

Juventus manager Antonio Conte was also in full praise of the German team after he said that they have the quality to go on and win the competition.

"Bit by bit we controlled the game and we showed our class in the second half. We did not let them have a chance then, which is why this win is deserved. We expected Juve to put us under pressure to begin with and we lost the ball too easily and did not have a very good organisation in defence. That is why, now and again, we had a few problems. It was really enjoyable to play in such a modern stadium in front of this atmosphere," said Heynckes.
