HARD WORK WINS IT

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has said that the team must work a lot harder in defence in order to be capable of winning titles.

Bayern Munich famously finished as the runners up in the three major competitions last season, and have been linked to some massive players like Cesc Fabregas and Steven Gerrard to help shore up the midfield.

Despite having one of the best attacking lineups in the world, Bayern Munich were unable to lift any major trophy last season. A lot of the criticism has come upon the manager Jupp Heynckes, who has once again seen his side flattered to deceive in the pre-season matches. In the pre-season matches against Werder Bremen and Hamburg, Bayern Munich are able to get just one victory – a narrow 1-0 win over Hamburg.

After the end of the pre-season tournament, the Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has said that the club should focus on defending a lot better in the actual Bundesliga season. Winning the German league title will be the main ambition of the club after they have failed to lift the title for the last two seasons. It is very unusual for Bayern Munich to be not champions for two consecutive seasons and Jupp Heynckes has stressed the importance of defining better by working much harder than they are currently doing.

"Our attacking play is marked by imagination, intelligence and skill. However, we have to work harder as a team in defence, which we did outstandingly well in the first third of last season. We'll be working on that almost every day. Once the players are rested and have restored their energy levels, it'll be much easier to train this area and make it happen in matches," said the manager on the official website of the club. The four time European champions will be facing the newly promoted Greuther Furth on the opening day of the new season.
