Bayern Munich defender refuses to discuss his club future

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has refused to speak about his club future ahead of Germany’s World Cup campaign. Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently confirmed that the 29-year-old could leave the Bavarian giants for the right price during the summer but Boateng has declined to speak on the topic ahead of the opening World Cup game against Mexico, he said: “We’re now with the national team and it’s time for the World Cup. That’s the topic for me. I don’t know why these statements were made, but they are not my business, and now I have said something about it.”

Obviously, no player would want any distraction ahead of the global tournament and Boateng, for now, has maintained his focus on the national team, who are defending their title. Unlike in recent years, the reigning champions come into the tournament on the back of two friendly defeats in the past three games but Joachim Loew should hopefully have the backline sorted out with Boateng having recently recovered from his thigh muscle strain.
